HOW THE COLLECTING BUG ATTACKED ME

In the spring of 1996, as I was driving home from work, I spotted an old lawn tractor sitting in the weeds down the road a piece from my home. I stopped to check it out, and found it to be a rusted, but mostly there, Case 180 garden tractor. After inquiring about it, I was able to get it for hauling it away.

At this point I had no idea, I had been bitten. Just thought I’d putter on the tractor. As the restoration began I started getting interested in knowing more about the tractor and its history. Also, all of a sudden, I started noticing other Cases’. The first thing I knew my garage began filling up and I knew I’d been bitten!!

The hardest part of the restoration job was getting decals from Case or Ingersoll. I acquired a set of original decals and found a source to have more made. Parts continue to be a challenge as many of the older ones are no longer available, and if they are, are extremely expensive.

My collection consists of eleven Case tractors and ten Colts. As any collector knows, once you start with one area it often expands to include more. In addition to the my restoration tractors, I have accumulated literature, parts books, service manuals, parts tractors and accessories. These sometimes come in handy for trading or funding my "habit".

Since starting to collect Case, my wife, Laura, and I have traveled and met many fine and helpful people at tractor shows and auctions. Through the Internet I have made the acquaintance of more people interested in Case garden tractors.

My most important quest today is to find a T-90 or Colt 2+ tools. Can you help? Is there something I can help you search for? As a collector a lot of the fun is in the looking. Maybe I can help you. Feel free to contact me at kruger@net-port.com. Or if you have parts to get rid of contact me I might be interested.

Hope you enjoy my page and look forward to hearing from all you bug-bitten Case/Colt collectors.
